Local Wildlife: Headmistress

Meet Jillian, she is the beautiful and talented owner and designer of Headmistress. Headmistress is one of our new fav accessories labels. Jillian creates amazing feather clips, headbands, collars, floral crowns, almost everything every girl dreams about and more. What makes her extra awesome is that everything is locally made in Toronto, out of her live/work studio space located on trendy Queen St. West. And we were lucky enough to get an invite the other week. A lot of the materials she uses are recycled as well, including her fur... so no need to feel guilty!

Here are our snaps from the studio!

Floral crowns for everyone!

Recycled fur accessories

Hair clips made from recycled provincial tartan quilts

The cutest wall decor... is that for sale Jill?

Look for all of these Headmistress pieces at our online boutique, and as Jill might put it...

p.s. she makes other shit too!

Local Wildlife: Justine Brooks Jewelry

Justine Brooks is an super talented jewelry designer based in Vancouver, BC. She is originally from Toronto, but made the move a few years ago to Vancouver and was immediately taken with everything the west coast of Canada has to offer.  Her jewelry is not only reflective of her Canadian roots but also of her worldly travels. She creates beautifully detailed and classic designs mainly with cool 'found in nature' motifs. She has spent time in the Middle East, East Africa, Asia and India studying traditional jewelry design and metal techniques. We look forward to featuring her line in our 'local wildlife' section on Wild and Heart (launching very soon and in time for gift giving time)! Here is a sneak-peek of her amazing designs and her inspiration from some of her travels:

nature X fashion: ombre with nature

Happy last long weekend of summer, hope you topped off your summer with some nature and sun somewhere! With the coming change of seasons, we are not the only ones changing our wardrobes, nature is shedding its summer layers and in a very ombrious fashion.
